Wollymin are a type of parasitic Pikmin host appearing in Pikmin Adventures. They are usually the last Pikmin type discovered and are found in caves. Wollymin can also be formed by having Orange Pikmin interact with the corpse of a Yellow Wollywog, even aboveground, making the corpse disintegrate at the cost of gaining five Wollymin. They have an orange body, with a green coloration at the top of it, as well as a typical Pikmin stem. Wollymin move in short hops while on land, making them very slow, but are exceptionally swift while in water. At sunset, Orange Pikmin will abandon their corpse, leaving it irrecoverable, and board their Onion, and trying to deposit Wollymin into the Orange Onion will have the same result.
Adult Wollymin are found only in caves, where they sit idly in pools of water with up to five juvenile Wollymin. No damage can be done to them, except from explosions such as those from bomb rocks, which instantly kill them. Adult Wollymin do not leave corpses.
Juvenile Wollymin are immune to water, have a high throw distance, and land with a heavy thud much like Purple Pikmin do. They are useful for battling water-based enemies and collecting submerged treasures, most notably the Paper Shade, the only one they are required to collect, but only fifteen may be in the same location at a time.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “At first, this species may appear to be a part of the wollywog family, but they are actually a kind of Pikmin. Their bodies are for parasitic Orange Pikmin who have taken a liking to watery environments. They seem to coexist with regular wollywogs, but it is not known whether this coexistence was intended.”
Sagittarius' notes
- “Wollymin are so cool! Unlike regular wollywogs, they are friendly following me wherever I go! I want to bring one home, but dad says not to...”
