Shearpions are mandiblards appearing in the Unfamiliar Valley and Vengeful Thicket in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze. They are dark purple and have gleaming yellow eyes. Although slow, they have quick reflexes; Pikmin thrown towards a Shearpion in full threat display will end up skewered by the creature's tail and eaten. Even stab-proof Rock Pikmin will still be deflected by the Shearpion's tail. Approaching the Shearpion from the front will cause it to strike with its tail after about a second of waiting. Should it miss, however, it ends up stuck for a few seconds, struggling to pull its tail out, leaving it vulnerable to attack.

The mighty Shearpion is a mandiblard that has, through evolution, regained the use of both legs and wings. The Shearpion is enormous for a mandiblard; it's about the same size as a Fiery Blowhog. Its armored carapace is pure black and its eyes are yellow. It has multiple legs but it also has large wings that allow it to fly out of harm's reach if injured. The most unique feature of this advanced killer is its long tail, which ends in a sharp scythe. It normally drags the tail along the ground, but if approached, it will raise the tail to make itself appear larger. The Shearpion will attack and eat Pikmin like all mandiblards, but is much faster, periodically rushing in to eat two or four Pikmin. It can also fly into the air and swoop down to snag a Pikmin. This makes it a rather dangerous enemy.
