Clovers are small clusters of three-leaved plants used as scenery in both Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2. Although they do not directly affect gameplay, disturbing a clover patch can often scare Iridescent Flint Beetles out of hiding. Clovers can be seen in numerous overworld locations, but are particularly common on "rest levels" inside several caves.

Clovers appear in Pikmin 251. Their appearance is exactly like how it is in Pikmin 2.

Notes

Olimar's observations

This plant seems to be all over the Flooded Fields. In fact, they seem more common in general. Perhaps they're an invasive species that is rapidly spreading across all of the places we've seen.

Cookin' with Louie

Mildly poisonous. May result in nausea, headache, fever, fatigue, chest pains, paralysis, loss of bone density, moodiness, feral rage, sauciness, dilly-dallying, strokes of brilliance, and untimely doom.

Family Clover

The Clover is a species of clover in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble real-world clovers, having a dark green stem with three leaves at the top. Clovers are always found in large clusters. The plant functions as decoration. Extremely rarely, a patch of clovers may consist of four-leaf clovers, with a 1.5% chance of this happening. Repeatedly re-entering a cave with Clovers can improve the chances of finding such a patch. Finding a four-leaf clover patch will grant the "Luckmin" achievement.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Clover relies on a symbiotic relationship between fungi to survive droughts, as the fungus will retain water for the plant in exchange for nutrients. When the time comes, the Clover will spread its seeds and the fungal spores together to increase their chances for more clover-fungus relationships to be formed. Very rarely, Clovers may be found with four leaves instead of three, though personally, I’ve yet to encounter such a phenomenon.

Louie's notes

Mildly poisonous. May result in nausea, headache, fever, fatigue, chest pains, paralysis, loss of bone density, moodiness, feral rage, sauciness, dilly-dallying, strokes of brilliance, and untimely doom. Would still try it again, though.

President’s notes

So if I find a four-leaf clover, I’ll have years of luck! I sure wish I had this plant when I was getting hunted down by debt collectors. It took a miracle for me to not get caught for THAT long...

Overlord’s thoughts

You’d think Captain Olimar would take one of these four-leaf variants home, considering how unlucky he is. Like seriously, how many times has he crashed on this planet? Like 5 or 6 now? At that point, I’d build my ship out of Unobtanium or something.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, Clovers are like how they are in Pikmin 3, functioning as hiding spots and occasionally showing white flowers. They're one of the only plants that have no effect on gameplay to be documented in the Piklopedia. Louie's notes are the same as they were in Pikmin 2.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Clovers live in a symbiotic relationship with a species of fungus that grows on their roots and supplies them with nourishment even amidst droughts. While most clovers have three leaves, four-leafed clovers can come into being depending on how the plant's stem is impacted during development. I've observed scornets hiding under them in the past, though it is uncommon. The amount of nitrogen in their roots means the plant can be a viable fertilizer alternative in the future.

Louie's notes

Mildly poisonous. May result in nausea, headache, fever, fatigue, chest pains, paralysis, loss of bone density, moodiness, feral rage, sauciness, dilly-dallying, strokes of brilliance, and untimely doom.
