The Electric Spectralid is a flitterbie that flies through the air while emitting light from the electricity that runs through its body. If it sees leaders or Pikmin, it attempts to divebomb them with the intent to harm. Hitting it with even a single thrown Pikmin is sufficient enough to kill it.

The Electric Spectralid is a flitterbie in Pikmin: Before the Impact that flies around and emits light. It has an electrified body, so only Yellow Pikmin can defeat it. Once spotted by an Electric Spectralid, it will try and divebomb Pikmin and leaders. Much like most flitterbies, it is frail and dies in one hit.
Notes
Stevvy’s observations
- “Some of these creatures boggle my mind… How does the Electric Spectralid manage to stay afloat and produce electricity at the same time? There has to be some way, right?”
Natti’s cookbook
- “Much like most Spectralids, the best part of the Electric Spectralid is its wings. The crackling of electricity in your mouth combined with the crispy breading… it’s like a discotheque for your taste buds!”

“ | This butterfly looks like it could deliver a nasty shock... | ” | – The ship, upon discovering the Electric Spectralid |
---|
The Electric Spectralid is an enemy that appears in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles a small, glowing butterfly with a round, white body, and two antennae with red eyes. The flitterbie flies around with two glowing, light blue wings.
The Electric Spectralid can be found flying around flowers or other plants. It will occasionally stop to rest on a flower petal or edge of elevated land. The creature is extremely agile and will fly away if so much as approached. When the Electric Spectralid flies away, it will release small volts of electricity. It will also occasionally swoop down at Pikmin and leaders and drop volts as well. Non-Yellow Pikmin that these volts hit or try to attack the flitterbie will be shocked and stunned. However, it's extremely weak, and one hit from a Pikmin is more than enough to kill it. When killed, the Electric Spectralid has a chance to drop an ultra-energetic spray.
Due to their electric nature, only Yellow Pikmin and Rubber Pikmin can take on the Electric Spectralid due to their electric resistance. The flitterbie can also be damaged through non-Pikmin methods.
In Overlord mode, the chance for an Electric Spectralid to drop its respective spray is decreased significantly, as with all spectralids.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Through the use of friction and high energy levels, the Electric Spectralid can easily create volts of electricity when threatened. This also gives the flitterbie a natural glow. The Electric Spectralid tends to live in darker areas, like caves, to avoid predators.”
Louie's notes
- “This yummy bug gives you a small tingle when you bite down on it for the first time. Put a couple in a bowl with milk, and you have your own PNF-404 pop rocks cereal.”
President’s notes
- “This butterfly serves as a good light source for those dark caves. If I just stick one in a jar, I'll have my own, eco-friendly flashlight.”
Overlord's thoughts
- “Butterflies in caves. That's a first. Well, we do have bats already on this planet, and they're kind of like butterflies... just... mammalian.”
