The Firesnout Beetle Larva is a returning enemy found in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original Hey! Pikmin incarnation. It can only be found in small alcoves in walls and will pop out when Pikmin are nearby to breathe fire at the group. After its attack, it will retreat back into its hole. The best way to defeat it is by moving to the side during its attack and attacking it with Red Pikmin. Rubber Pikmin can also deflect the attack back to it. If killed, it will fall out of its den and it can be collected. Sometimes, a gold nugget, pellet, egg, or bomb rock can be found from the den.

Notes
Olimar's notes
- “A species of lithopod that requires intense heat to keep its blood pumping, it does not spit boulders, rather using certain minerals in the rocks it eats to provide it with a catalyst for its incendiary abilities. The metabacteria it works with break these minerals down into volatile chemicals that it uses for fire, both for heat and defense. It has a crown of numerous blowholes around its head to avoid the risk of overheating.”
Louie's notes
- “This creature tastes remarkably like pork. Fry it in a hot wok with shallots and kohlrabi slices to make its flavor more varied.”
Ship's comments
- “The fire it spits whenever it emerges may be a necessary function, but it's also dangerous. I would rather not carry burning hot things in my hull, but Olimar has the final word.”
