The only threat posed by a Hydro Dweevil lies in the water it defends itself with. The Hydro Dweevil (formerly known as the Caustic Dweevil) is a member of the dweevil family that attacks in self-defense. As is typical of dweevils, it picks up any treasure or enemy corpse it can find, only releasing it when Pikmin attack. The only offensive measure the beast can take is spraying an acidic bodily fluid that functions identically to water, meaning it chokes and drowns all Pikmin types except Blue Pikmin, making them the best choice in battle against it.

Attacks Drowns Pikmin

The Hydro Dweevil appears in Pikmin 2: New Year as a member of the dweevil family and a relative of the Caustic Dweevil. It flees from Pikmin and leaders that approach too closely, and when attacked defends itself using a shower of water that endangers all Pikmin in its range except Blue Pikmin. Like other lesser dweevils, Hydro Dweevils will pick up and carry around objects, such as treasures and corpses, they are in the vicinity of.

Hydro Dweevils much resemble Caustic Dweevils but with a more vibrant skin tone in addition to black markings on their legs.

The only threat posed by a Hydro Dweevil lies in the water it defends itself with. Unless the creature is carrying an object, in which case the object must be removed before damage may be inflicted, it can be easily killed by throwing Pikmin onto the underside of its body. Purple Pikmin are especially effective against Hydro Dweevils because of their pound attack, which can stun any in its range and instantly remove an object one is carrying.
