Strategies against a Bomber Dweevil can vary dramatically depending on whether it is armed or not. If the former, coax the creature into priming its weapon and then keep away until one of the two is no longer a threat. If the latter, leave it alone, or defeat it before it can get a hold of any nearby bomb rock variants. A Bomber Dweevil can be disarmed most effectively by hitting its vulnerable main body enough times, which is not many, as its legs are far more resistant to harm. If the dweevil's bomb rock is primed at the time it is detached from its body, it will flee from the object. Exercise extreme caution when around sources of [[blunt force]], as exposing any kind of bomb rock to it can have disastrous results. [[Purple Pikmin]] are useful for disarming and stunning an armed Bomber Dweevil because of their pounds, but care should be taken to not endanger a Purple Pikmin's life by landing one directly on top of its weapon. The fastest way to take down an unarmed Bomber Dweevil, and any other lesser dweevil for that matter, is by throwing a Purple Pikmin directly on top of it; the impact slams the dweevil's body to the ground, instantly killing it. Upon death, they spasm shortly before inverting themselves and curling their legs, but if killed by a Purple Pikmin pound, they simply go limp with their legs outstretched. If it dies from the blast of a bomb rock it is carrying, it leaves no remains whatsoever.

In Pikmin:Redemption the Volatile Dweevils aren't that different from their Pikmin 2 version. The only changes are the type of bomb-rocks they can hold(Regular, giant, and nuclear), there are large and small dweevils, and the skin of the legs of a Volatile Dweevil has taken on the appearance of the bomb-rock they have.
In ultra-spicy difficulty, Bomber Dweevils may use strands of their silk to rappel down from cave walls when Pikmin or leaders come near, and may or may not already be armed. Until they reveal themselves, they can not be seen in the darkness even with the [[ToolPad|HocoPad]]'s camera function, but if the ceiling is low enough, the camera's flash may startle them and send them plummeting to the ground below. Upon hitting the ground, their bomb rocks will immediately go off. Additionally, armed Bomber Dweevils move at their normal speed regardless of the size of the bomb rock in their possession, and may even throw their bomb rock at out-of-reach Pikmin and leaders should it be small and primed.

Oh boy, not this crazy thing. These dweevils are unlike any other, as they know exactly what that item on their head is for, and aren't afraid to use it. It doesn't help that they have a particularly strong tendency to drop down from the sky on un-suspecting Pikmin I'm not watching. I'm gonna leave this in Olimar's bed as a prank. It's gonna be hilarious!

Overlord’s insight

The Volatile Dweevil actually does possess glands necessary for self-defense. These glands dispel a withering agent that weakens Pikmin and makes them sluggish. They never seem to use it, as they prefer to carry around explosive devices, like these bomb rocks. They don't seem to mind that this will result in their death, they just go on marching, ready to explode for no apparent reason. Why? Not sure. I do think the mandarachnia genus has some sort of brain function, which makes them mimic the objects that they pick up. In this case, an armed explosive primed to kill.

In Pikmin: Redemption, the Volatile Dweevil is the same as its Pikmin 2 incarnation, but can carry and use giant bomb rocks and nuclear bomb rocks in addition to ordinary bomb rocks. Additionally, the colored portions of the skin of its legs can change to match that of its currently-held bomb rock.

The Volatile Dweevil is a member of a family of insects known for carrying large objects, usually ones I need, on their backs. What is different about this kind is that they like to carry bomb rocks, giant bomb rocks, and nuclear bomb rocks. Since the objects they carry determine the dweevil's behavioral patterns then we can only assume that for some reason this kind of dweevil picks bomb rocks instead of shiny things. Undoubtedly, these creatures do not know these are explosive and can set off other bomb rocks, usually with humorous results.

Louie's notes

Carefully remove the bomb rock, then beer-batter the legs and deep fry them for five minutes. The legs create a taste you will not soon forget.

The Bomber Dweevil is a particularly dangerous lesser dweevil appearing in Pikmin: Wide World. It typically shares its small territory with one to two other Bomber Dweevils, though sometimes alone, on land or in shallow water, preferring to remain on land. Unlike other dweevils, the Bomber Dweevil seemingly embraces bomb rocks of any kind and will refuse to carry any other object. A Bomber Dweevil will often already be equipped with its preferred weaponry, though sometimes may not, and if this is the case, it will scurry towards any bomb rocks that are nearby, pick one up, and then proceed to carry the object around on top of its body, holding it firmly using its pincers. While armed on land, Bomber Dweevils fold their legs underneath themselves to sit down, and if the terrain under them is soft, also lightly bury them to more effectively conceal themselves under the object. Otherwise, when unarmed or wading through water, they merely walk around, periodically idling in place. When Pikmin or leaders come near an armed Bomber Dweevil, it will begin to pursue them, and use its pincers to prime its weapon when close enough. The dweevil suffers in some way from the bomb rock it carries, but often survives long enough to make ample use of it, and large bomb rocks impact its speed while small ones do not. While defenseless, a Bomber Dweevil will simply flee. Curiously, Bomber Dweevils do not seem to understand that dud bomb rocks can not be primed, as they will periodically try to despite their uselessness, something they also do with smoke bomb rocks after they cease functioning.

Bomber Dweevils are fairly-sized spider-like insects that have a round, black body, and four slender orange legs that each have several wide black bands spanning their length and end in a fine point. They also have a pair of arms that dangle from their body when in a neutral position and terminate in a pair of pincers, as well as a pair of red eyes above a pair of lime-green eyes, and a pair of mandibles on their face that have maroon bristles on the outer side of their ends. The orange portions of their legs shift hues respective to the bomb rock they have in their possession.

Strategies against a Bomber Dweevil can vary dramatically depending on whether it is armed or not. If the former, coax the creature into priming its weapon and then keep away until one of the two is no longer a threat. If the latter, leave it alone, or defeat it before it can get a hold of any nearby bomb rock variants. A Bomber Dweevil can be disarmed most effectively by hitting its vulnerable main body enough times, which is not many, as its legs are far more resistant to harm. If the dweevil's bomb rock is primed at the time it is detached from its body, it will flee from the object. Exercise extreme caution when around sources of blunt force, as exposing any kind of bomb rock to it can have disastrous results. Purple Pikmin are useful for disarming and stunning an armed Bomber Dweevil because of their pounds, but care should be taken to not endanger a Purple Pikmin's life by landing one directly on top of its weapon. The fastest way to take down an unarmed Bomber Dweevil, and any other lesser dweevil for that matter, is by throwing a Purple Pikmin directly on top of it; the impact slams the dweevil's body to the ground, instantly killing it. Upon death, they spasm shortly before inverting themselves and curling their legs, but if killed by a Purple Pikmin pound, they simply go limp with their legs outstretched. If it dies from the blast of a bomb rock it is carrying, it leaves no remains whatsoever.

In ultra-spicy difficulty, Bomber Dweevils may use strands of their silk to rappel down from cave walls when Pikmin or leaders come near, and may or may not already be armed. Until they reveal themselves, they can not be seen in the darkness even with the HocoPad's camera function, but if the ceiling is low enough, the camera's flash may startle them and send them plummeting to the ground below. Upon hitting the ground, their bomb rocks will immediately go off. Additionally, armed Bomber Dweevils move at their normal speed regardless of the size of the bomb rock in their possession, and may even throw their bomb rock at out-of-reach Pikmin and leaders should it be small and primed.

PWW Captain Olimar icon.png The bomber dweevil displays an extreme, and frightening, fixation on bomb rocks. After picking one up, its leg color changes, and it lies in wait for prey to pass by. Afterward, it intelligently primes its weapon and then chases its prey until the bomb rock detonates or ceases working.
