Twenty to forty normal Pikmin or two to four Purple Pikmin can weigh down its tail, though this depends on each specimen. Toady Bloysters will generally stay in moist areas like ponds but can be lured to other areas. They can climb up ledges, and leave a trail of slime wherever they go. These enemies can migrate in some areas in groups of one to four to a total of three locations on each large map. When defeated, they will droop their tail before shrinking down considerably, about the size of a pellet, and take on a burnt brown coloration and appear crisp. Their tail gives five metal units or ten Pikmin, and their body gives five Pikmin and can not be salvaged for metal.

The Toady Bloyster is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. It retains its original design throughout the Pikmin games. The Toady Bloyster is mainly found inside water, although it can also be found moving around on land. The Bloyster moves much faster in water than in land, moving double the speed it would on land. If a Pikmin or captain lingers in front of the creature, it will emit a cow-like bellow before thrusting out numerous tendrils that split off into dozens of smaller tendrils. This deadly attack can catch up to 25 Pikmin if not careful. However, due to their weight, Weighted Pikmin seemingly cannot be eaten by Toady Bloysters. Blue Pikmin are best suited for taking out Bloysters due to their speed. They can attack the tail of the Bloyster, as that deals the most damage. If attacked constantly, the Toady Bloyster will release a noxious cloud of poison that can choke Blue Pikmin and Weighted Pikmin alike. If killed, the main body of the Bloyster melts away, leaving the small, berry-like tail to return to the Onion.

The Toady Bloyster is a mollusking that appears in Pikmin: Wide World, and bears remarkable physical and behavioral similarities to the Ranging Bloyster. It can be found exploring a small territory, typically alone, either on dry land or in water of any depth. When on dry land, a Toady Bloyster leaves behind a visible slime trail as it moves, which disappears shortly after being formed. As it explores, it occasionally stops in place to idle before continuing on its way. Its tail periodically quivers or sways. Toady Bloysters ignore leaders and Pikmin near it unless they linger directly in front of it for some moments, where it will unleash an aggravated bovine sound before lashing out its slender, branching tongue to attempt to eat them. Any leaders it pulls into its mouth will be chewed up, swallowed, and then forcefully regurgitated, taking damage as they are chewed and spat out. As leaders are swallowed along with any Pikmin in the creature's mouth, Pikmin cannot be saved unless the creature is killed before it can swallow them. Additionally, leaders, Pikmin, and some enemies can walk up onto the back of a Toady Bloyster, although it will eventually shake them off if they stay on top of it.

The Toady Bloyster appears almost exactly as it did in Pikmin 3, but retains some physical elements it had in Pikmin 2 and has undergone other, various changes to its appearance. As always, the Toady Bloyster is a large, pink, sluglike creature with a plant-like tail at its backside terminating in a large, gill-bulb. Each Toady Bloyster's body has a unique pattern of dark purple markings that overlays its slimy, vivid pink body, much like in Pikmin 2, although they do not swirl and are static. The edges of its body taper to an edge instead of a rounded end. Its wide, gaping mouth contains a single, blue, slender tentacle that branches off into six separate tentacles. Its tail is green with yellow details and has leaf-like appendages that are of similar colors. The bulb on the end of its tail is spherical in shape, light beige in color, and speckled and wrinkled. It has small, black, beady eyes mounted on its eyestalks, which have red rims. Its tail-bulb does not change color upon death.

Toady Bloysters are passive creatures, and they don't go out of their way to attack Pikmin and leaders, although they will not pass up the opportunity to feed on them. As such, battles against Toady Bloysters are often initiated by leaders. Attacking a Toady Bloyster's gill-bulb will inflict much more damage than attacking its body will. Throwing Pikmin onto its gill-bulb is not necessary, as they know to jump up onto it, and leaders can punch it. Throwing Purple Pikmin onto its back will inflict a decent amount of damage to the creature. Unlike in Pikmin 3, a Toady Bloyster will not squirt ink to deter its attackers, and will instead violently shake them off, much like in Pikmin 2. Upon death, a Toady Bloyster's body will stiffen up and shrink dramatically, adopting a dried and shriveled appearance, and its remains can be carried by its tail-bulb. Also upon death, it yields HP Sparklium icon.png × 3. Aboveground, its remains can be taken to either the Dolphin Lander for P3 Poko icon.png × 4 or the Master Onion for fifteen Pikmin seeds. Underground, its remains can be carried to the Lander Pod to gain either P3 Poko icon.png × 4 or fifteen Pikmin seeds of any chosen discovered main type from the Master Onion, but only if the cave is exited using an escape geyser.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Although it always travels in sizeable herds, the toady bloyster is often seen alone from other members of its group when hunting. It is rather passive, feeding only upon prey that lingers before it for too long by lashing out at it with its sticky, whiplike tongue. Its tongue splits into six separate tongues at its tip, and they flail around to catch prey the main tongue did not. The toady bloyster's eyes are much too small to see prey well, and it thinks slowly, explaining why the creature attacks only after a few moments have passed. The creature's tail functions as gills, which allows it to survive in water, its preferred habitat. The bulb at the end of the toady bloyster's tail is its most vulnerable part, but the creature itself has very few predators.

If it weren't for this creature's slime disappearing so quickly, I would bottle it and bring it back to Hocotate. It makes a great lubricant, but only in large amounts.

Marie's notes

Toady bloysters are naturally passive, so taming them is relatively simple. They don't seem to care about much, if anything, at all. Because of their poor eyesight and sluggish mental processes, they often can not very well discern their owner from food, so caution is advised to be exercised during feeding time.

Extract the tongue and discard the rest of the body. Cut the tongue into thick pieces, and sear on a grill. Tastes like squid and has its texture.

I wonder, why are toady bloysters so docile? I know it's explained why, but perhaps there's something more to it. What it is, I'm not so sure. But I can detect something different in them... an innocent aura?
