The Flighty Piddlepoddler is an enemy found in the files of Pikmin 1. Its textures are unfinished, and so it appears mostly metallic except for its translucent blue eyes and wings. Little is known about the Flighty Piddlepoddler or its behaviors, but what is known of it is that it would have flown upwards immediately after appearing and had a very large health pool. It would also apparently have spawned Smoky Proggs as it moved, although it is entirely possible that it would have spawned something else had enemy identification values not been moved around during Pikmin 1's development.

The Flighty Piddlepoddler is a species of hooktail in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature is a small, gray, flying serpent-like bug with blue wings and eyes. It idly flies around high in the air when alone, but will use its tail to pick up nearby Pikmin or leaders and fly them to the nearest enemy and drop them there. If the hooktail can not find a predator, it will simply eat the Pikmin instead. The Hooktail can not be reached by any ground-based Pikmin, so Winged Pikmin can be used to weigh it down. With good aim, Dart Pikmin can also be used. Iguana Pikmin can also attack from afar, while Weighted Pikmin cannot be snatched away. If attacked, it will crash down to the ground where it can be attacked by any Pikmin type. If killed, a hooktail will drop a dose of either spicy or bitter spray.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This strange bug seems to capture prey to eat. However, if it's not to the insect's picky tastes, it will drop them off at the nearest predator. Why it does this is unclear, but it is probably to cover up its tracks and leave no survivors. Piddlepoddlers live in small nests in trees, away from any airborne predators.”
Louie's notes
- “Slice off the hook and grill this small bug into strips. Add soy sauce for extra flavor.”
President’s notes
- “Dropping its competition into the jaws of sharks if it doesn't suit him... this bug would make a good businessman! If only I had that mindset when I was a kid.”

The Flighty Piddlepoddler is a species of hooktail in Pikmin: Dual Worlds that wraps its long, hooked tail around small terrestrial enemies and carries them around, usually back to its nest. When approached by Pikmin, leaders, and other hostile enemies, it will drop its cargo on or near them in addition to attempting to grab the threat. If successful in this endeavor, it will generally attempt to carry its new cargo away and back to its sticky nest. If it manages to escape, it will attempt to eat its prey, though in the case of leaders it will be unsuccessful, though it will try persistently and deal a good amount of damage to them over time. Any leaders it captures will eventually be carried away from its nest after any Pikmin it captures are eaten and it will throw the leader in question to the ground, repeating this process and carrying leaders to different locations until all leaders are out of its nest. Once a leader has been captured by a Flighty Piddlepoddler once, that Piddlepoddler will no longer specifically go for that leader and will only do so by accident. It will still attack the captured leader once if it returns to its nest, but it will instead focus on its other cargo afterward, releasing the leader the same way it did prior. The only way to free captured leaders and Pikmin once captured is to attack the Piddlepoddler while en route to its nest, as its nest is high up to the point that Yellow Pikmin can not reach it from the ground, and even if it is somehow accessed, its nest is coated in a sticky substance. Its nest may contain several light gray eggs, which contain Piddlelarvae. In Mission Mode and Battle Mode, Winged Pikmin are able to fly high enough to safely retrieve leaders and Pikmin that are captured as well as attack the piddlepoddler itself.
