The Honeywisp is a honeywisp appearing in Pikmin: Wide World. Though it may be alone or in groups of up to 3, it is not visible until Pikmin come near, with or without a leader. When this happens, a Honeywisp will materialize in the air, drift forward, straight ahead or curving its path, while moving its fins and swaying its hips, and disappear as suddenly as it appeared. Up to 2 Honeywisps can appear at a time, even if 3 inhabit the same territory. It will continue this behavior, traveling in a different direction each time, so long as Pikmin are around. What makes the Honeywisp special besides its method of appearance is the nectar, black nectar, or Nectar Goolix it holds under its body. Even while invisible, a Honeywisp will periodically emit distinct high-pitched whines, indicating its position.
A Honeywisp is a ghostly creature with translucent skin and a golden or black-and-gold interior respective of what it is holding. Its yellow eyes are connected to its interior, and its small mouth is triangular. As for its head, there is a pair of backward-facing antennae on top and a feeler on each side. Its long arms end in fins, and its 3 legs grip a blob of nectar or black nectar.
Honeywisps are completely inoffensive, and so are utterly incapable of harming Pikmin. A Honeywisp will immediately disappear, dropping its payload in panic, the moment its nectar is struck, most likely by a thrown Pikmin. A direct hit to the Honeywisp itself, however, will kill it instantly, sending its body plummeting to the ground in addition to its nectar. Winged Pikmin are best for this as they automatically target the Honeywisp rather than its nectar. If hit by a thrown Rock Pikmin, a Purple Pikmin pound, or other forms of extreme blunt force, the Honeywisp's delicate membrane will disintegrate, leaving only its interior, which serves as an additional half-a-blob of nectar or black nectar.
In ultra-spicy difficulty, Honeywisps disappear much faster after appearing but do not reappear faster to compensate, limiting the time they can be hit. They also carry half as much nectar, but their interior is still worth the same amount.

Honeywisps are creatures that float across the air, carrying nectar or an egg. They appear and disappear out of thin air if a leader passes nearby set places where they can show.

In fanon games

Below this point is where users place their version of the Honeywisp.

Notes

Olimar's observations

This floating creature is quite strange. I still don't understand how it can float so effortlessly. When Pikmin attack it, it flees. Where do they go when they fly off? They seem to shrink into nothingness. Very strange indeed...

Cookin' with Louie

Although the eggs are small, the yolk has a distinctly bold and tangy flavor. Try tossing a few in a pan with your choice of meat and fresh vegetables and cook up a country scramble!

In Pikmin Forever, Honeywisps do not appear suddenly out of thin air, but appear wandering around an area, appearing upon entry there. Honeywisps have a more notable membrane surrounding them, appearing more jelly-like. They also give off a dim pink glow in dark areas. Upon encountering the borders of an area, they make a very wide U-turn, sometimes even going out of bounds. Upon encountering a wall during the U-turn, they turn back and wander around in a random line again. If it is hit with a Pikmin, it splatters and drops its egg, which may contain nectar or Mitites. If a Winged Pikmin latches onto it, it brings the Honeywisp down to the ground, where its egg breaks to reveal its contents, and its body is left behind without the jelly membrane. The body can not be salvaged for metal but it does give a meager two Pikmin seeds when brought to an Onion.

In Pikmin: The After Years, the Honeywisp is the same as it is in Pikmin: Redemption, being able to yield nectar and every spray.

The Honeywisp is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature retains its design throughout the Pikmin games. Honeywisps will appear from thin air when approached, gently floating across the air before disappearing. It will then reappear again, repeating the process. Honeywisps can be found carrying small eggs. If a Pikmin hits a Honeywisp, the creature will drop the egg and fly off. The egg will drop nectar, or rarely, a spray. They may even drop a group of Mitites.

In Pikmin: New World, Honeywisps can carry around large fruits, which may contain either nectar, sprays, or Mitites. They do not carry potions, though, as Sugarslicks do so and with a slight chance of carrying Squitters instead. They reappear even after they are killed, but are also rarer than in Pikmin 1. They are quicker too, which Olimar thinks may be due to the fact that they now carry fruit instead of eggs. Their larvae and nest are also seen for the first time in this game.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This creature's entire body structure completely collapses upon death. However, a live specimen was recently captured in the wild, allowing scientists to unravel the creature's many secrets. The results where shocking. Its body was found to be ninety-percent nitrogen, which would explain how it can simply materialize out of thin air only to suddenly disappear a second later. Another mind-boggling thing about this creature is the fruit it holds. In the past it held an egg, which it used to transport nectar to its young. This egg to fruit change may be due to its capability to successfully escape predators, which is greatly helped due to the fruit's lightweight.

Louie's notes

The body itself is uncookable, as it instantly vanishes upon death. However, its amazing fruit is unforgettable. The fruit must be gently sliced into pieces. Then, select your favorite sugary nectar toppings and eat away! Produces amazing jelly, jam, sauce, and juice, and is always a healthy snack that can be eaten at any time.

Sagittarius' notes

Not suitable for a pet under any circumstances. It will often simply disappear, never to appear again.

Libra's notes

The fruit makes a great natural dye but the creature itself is near colorless and completely useless as far as fashion goes. The creature does have an alluring glow about it, but it is impossible to change into clothing because it will vaporize just like the creature itself.

The Honeywisp in Pikmin: The Pollution is not an enemy, but more of an ally. They drop nectar, neswete, which is honey, and berries, eggs, and potions. They can not be killed, as Pikmin slip off them. They appear in all areas and dungeons.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The exquisite behavior of this spectacularly nice creature is too hard to observe as it's from a long distance and it's a small creature that emits a very bright light.

Sierra's notes

With emitting a very bright light, flying pretty high, and being a rather small creature, it's hard to observe this creature.

Louie's notes

Wait for it to drop neswete, nectar, some berries, eggs, and potions, and make a nice smoothie to go with some omelets or scrambled eggs and toastbug meat with neswete and nectar. The creature itself is inedible, and consuming it may result in unconcious ballet dancing, bowing down to random objects, and trying to swim in mid-air.
