Notes
Olimar's observations
- “These little pests are rather formidable for being such small creatures. It's best to focus attacks on them whenever you can, even if the parent may seem like a more immediate concern in an attack.”
Cookin' with Louie
- “Slice into thin pieces and put them onto a drying rack, then sprinkle on some spices and turn on the dehydrator for 4-5 hours for a delicious jerky.”

The Dwarf Bulbear returns mostly unchanged in Pikmin V. They wander about the area around where they appear, a behavior shared by the Snow Bulborb, until a parent bulbear comes along to follow.
Notes
Brittany's notes
- “Unlike the other dwarf grub-dogs, these ones are genuinely the offspring of a Spotty Bulbear. They follow their father around, surrounding prey and then sharing in the prizes.”
Olimar's notes
- “On its own, it's a little more challenging than other dwarves because it is still vulnerable to the instant kill technique. Its true danger comes when it decides to trail a grown Bulbear, as it can easily snag your Pikmin while you're focused on the bigger threat. If you can, try and pick them off before confronting the adult.”
Louie's notes
- “Many try to sell this beast as a smaller portion of its parent and raise the cost accordingly, but in reality, it hardly tastes better than a standard Dwarf Red Bulborb.”

Cub-Cub is the Dwarf Bulbear that appears in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. Cub-Cub lives in the Empire Field, and can be found following Ursula in her patrol route around the area. Since both of them are encountered together, it is likely that both will be Awakened at around the same time.
Cub-Cub is known to behave a bit strangely, and speaks in broken English with poor grammar. Cub-Cub always refers to himself in third person. An example of this is Cub-Cub's signature catchphrase which he repeats when demanding belly rubs: "Cub-Cub want rub-rub!"
Since Cub-Cub's mother Ursula had cubs in poor health, Cub-Cub has several visible genetic defects. Cub-Cub's lips are slightly misshapen, he has an extra toe on his left foot, and one of his eyes is bigger than the other, much like a Fiery Bulblax.
Many residents of the Diamond Settlement are unkind to Cub-Cub because of his weird nature and his insufferable mother, and many of the other children of the Diamond Settlement bully Cub-Cub and exclude him from their games when they play together. This leads Cub-Cub to be quite sad and sometimes angry at the other young residents. Any of the settlement's children who don't mind hanging out with Cub-Cub will find he quickly becomes their friend, and he can be quite fun and lovable despite his strange behaviors. However, the children that hang out with Cub-Cub may be shunned and bullied by the meaner children as well, just for associating with him.
Cub-Cub's name derives from bear cubs, related to how Bulbears themselves are named after bears. Cub-Cub's name also references the Pikmin meme in which a Purple Pikmin is referred to by the name "Gub Gub".

Attacks | Eats Pikmin |
The Dwarf Bulbear is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. It retains its original design throughout the series. Dwarf Bulbears act like most dwarves, standing idly in packs and sniffing the ground. However, they can also be found following Spotty Bulbears. Dwarf Bulbears that were idle will also follow their superiors if one gets near. As well, Dwarf Bulbears fight just like most dwarves, being able to eat one Pikmin at a time. However, they eat slightly faster, and they comically toss Pikmin into the air to land them into their mouth. Dwarf Bulbears cannot be killed by a single throw on the back, but rather five.

Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Whereas most dwarf bulborbs are actually breadbug mimics, no breadbug mimics for spotty bulbears have been found, meaning this is a true grub-dog. In order to deduce its patrol route, it relies on its mother's sense of direction to get its way around the world. Like real bears, the spotty bulbear will drive away its young when they reach a specific age.”
Louie's notes
- “After removing the internal innards of this creature, stuff with sage and prosciutto and broil until golden brown. It's small, but the taste of it will make you the chef of honor of the party!”
Ship's comments
- “There's more of them!? How disturbing! It seems as if there will always be bulbears to go around in the world, which means there will always be ravenous, piranha-mouthed brats!”
